Preamble
Manchester City dip their toe into this new-fangled 36-club-strong Champions League pool. The 2023 winners take on the team they beat to finally claim the European crown, so allow a little pre-match time for some good old reminiscing. Then it’s down to business, with City flying: the Community Shield already in the bag, four Premier League wins out of four, nine goals already for Erling Haaland. By comparison, the champions of Italy aren’t in such good form, with two wins and two draws to open their defence of Serie A, but Internazionale kept City honest last year in Istanbul and tonight they’ll no doubt do so again. Kick-off is at 8pm BST. It’s on!
