Andrea Pirlo has been sacked as Sampdoria manager following a poor start to the season.
The Italian club have lost twice and drawn once in their opening three matches, leaving them 19th in Serie B.
Pirlo, 45, was appointed Sampdoria boss in July 2023 following the club’s relegation from Serie A.
In a short statement the club said Pirlo and his coaching staff were “relieved of their duties” and thanked them for the “commitment and professionalism demonstrated during their time working at the club”.
The Italian started his managerial career with Juventus in 2020, winning the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup before being sacked after one season in Turin.
Pirlo joined Sampdoria after less than a season with Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk, leaving the side in ninth after his dismissal.
As a player, Pirlo played for Brescia, Reggina, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and New York City FC before retiring in 2017.
He won six Serie A titles and two Champions League titles, as well as the 2006 World Cup with Italy.
