Arsenal are considering a move for Raheem Sterling after being offered the Chelsea winger. Mikel Arteta wants more depth in attack and there is a chance that Sterling, who has been told that he has no future at Stamford Bridge, will join one of Chelsea’s closest rivals.
The deal would not be easy to pull off given that the 29-year-old winger has three years on a deal worth £325,000 a week. There is as strong a chance Sterling will stay at Chelsea given his contractual situation, although Enzo Maresca has warned him that he would not play a minute.
Manchester United are also one to watch given that they have held talks with Chelsea over a swap involving Jadon Sancho and Sterling. Sancho could still join Chelsea without a player heading in the opposite direction. Aston Villa, Juventus and Crystal Palace have been linked with Sterling.
Arsenal are set to sign Neto on a season’s loan from Bournemouth after failing with two bids for Espanyol’s Joan García. The Brazilian goalkeeper is due to have a medical on Friday after an agreement was struck with Bournemouth for a loan with no option or obligation to buy. He is set to provide cover for David Raya with Aaron Ramsdale having completed his move to Southampton. Neto has started all three of Bournemouth’s matches this season but is being allowed to leave after the arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea.
Arsenal had identified García, part of the Spain squad that won Olympic gold in the summer, as their main target to replace Ramsdale. But Espanyol are thought to be demanding that the 23-year-old’s €30m (£25m) release clause be paid.
Ramsdale will cost £18m up front, with Arsenal set to receive up to £6m in add-ons, including a £1m bonus if Southampton avoid relegation. Southampton are also set to sign Maxwel Cornet on a season’s loan from West Ham.
Neto’s move means that Mark Travers is expected to stay at Bournemouth after he was tracked by Crystal Palace as a potential replacement for the Wolves-bound Sam Johnstone. Palace could turn their attention to Nottingham Forest’s Matt Turner.
Brighton have submitted a €20m offer for the Nordsjaelland striker Conrad Harder that could take the club’s spending this summer beyond £200m. The 19-year-old Dane also has an offer from Sporting in Portugal.
