England’s Jude Bellingham said it was ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘cruel’ to lose the Euro 2024 final to Spain by conceding an 86th-minute goal in a 2-1 defeat at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. Spain won a record fourth European Championship title after Mikel Oyarzabal’s late goal clinched victory over England, whose painful decades-long wait for a major trophy goes on. England have now lost back-to-back Euro finals and are still without a major title since winning the 1966 World Cup. Ending on a positive note however, Bellingham said: ‘I came here to win. We came here to win … I know people will be frustrated that we haven’t delivered yet, but I definitely feel it’s coming.’
